Africa, Central America, Former USSR, Middle East

In December of 1991, the Soviet Union disintegrated into fifteen separate countries. The newly formed, independent countries that emerged were confronted with severe economic hardship, territorial disputes and war.

Under the guidance of the Young’s, Global Assistance began to ship donated humanitarian aid into the countries of the former Soviet Union. Through the years, Global Assistance has expanded its programs to include Africa and Central America. Nearly fifteen hundred ocean containers and air-shipments of relief goods have been sent to needy and suffering people all over the world. These forty-foot containers hold food, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals and clothing.

The cargo value shipped to date exceeds four-hundred-million-dollars. In addition to providing humanitarian aid, Global Assistance has provided funding for orphanages, schools, clinics and hospitals.

The friends and partners of Global Assistance have also funded life-saving surgeries and other life-altering medical procedures, such as cleft- lip and palate operations for children
