Honduras
Sadly, we lost Papa Jones in 2022, but his sweet wife Marie, continues to run Casa Cielo in Honduras. The following letter is one written by Papa Jones when JHMM began supporting the ministry.
Hola, mi hermanos en CRISTO! (Hello, my brothers in Christ!) Mama and I are so delighted and honored to be a part of Jim Hester Missionary Ministries. Many of you may not know us, so if I may share a little history to help you understand and possibly remember us in your prayers.
Mama and I met and married at Christ for the Nations in Dallas, and began our journey for missions. About 17 years ago, we went with a group to do a medical missions trip to the island of Roatan off the northern coast of Honduras. It was during our return to Texas that God spoke so loud and clear, yet we knew His timing was as important as His direction. About 11 years ago I came home one afternoon and Mama was packing! I was surprised when she told me the Lord is stirring her heart to “get ready”. Two years later in January of 2004 we loaded the last of our worldly possessions and our 3 children in an old Dodge Durango and began our journey south.
Today we live in El Cacao, a remote village about 45 kilometers from the city of La Ceiba on the northern coast of Honduras, Central America. Here we founded Christian Bilingual School and Casa Cielo, an orphanage of children that have suffered severe abuse and abandonment. God told us early on that the impact we would make on this nation would be through these children. And with your love, prayers, and support we will accomplish this!
We have been here for nine years and are currently building a permanent home for the children of Casa Cielo, where we currently house 19 small children, ranging in age from 2 years to 8 years old. Future plans include building a home for the school. Our biggest need is prayer and love. On the mission field, living in a remote village, it gets very lonely and we face many unique challenges.
God bless you and thank you for your love, prayer, and financial support!
